Artist Statement

I build geometric structures out of beads, combining individual shapes into more complex ones that form necklaces, bracelets, vessels and other objects. Some of my structures are based on engineered works; others derive from molecular forms.

Most of my work uses hand-cut silver tubes as beads. I often oxidize the silver to darken it. This gives the work a sort of bridge truss-ish look, which enhances the open metal structures. Often I embellish the work with accents of stone beads or tubes of other metals (colored aluminum or gold). My goal is to create works that are large and volumetric but at the same time minimalist and almost not there.
