Lisa Brobst

Cedarburg, Wisconsin

Boxes designed and built by Brobst use solid hardwoods such as walnut, cherry, or mahogany. Each box reflects Lisa’s contemporary style while respecting traditional woodworking techniques, including hand cut joinery and use of natural finishes.

Lisa starts with rough cut kiln-dried lumber that she then mills down, in her shop. She uses strong, well-fitting hand cut joinery, unlike that of commercial factories. The pieces are dry-fit assembled to make sure all joints are as tight as possible. Lastly, each box is sanded and finished with a high quality oil and urethane finish. This four-step process results in a durable and cleanable surface for years.

Artist Statement

I’m not trying to make things that are trendy. I view my handcrafted wooden boxes as art. Function plays a secondary role. Every piece is a piece of a sculpture and definitely one-of-a-kind.

We have an ever-changing inventory of original pieces. Please contact us for availability of a specific piece.
